Public Sculpture Project

The Knot, Wood, Metal and Vinyl, 10 x 14 feet, 2019

Commissioned by Sonoma State University, this piece was a temporary sculpture displayed for 3 weeks leading up to graduation as part of the “Commence” show. Over the course of several months I planned designs, scouted locations, wrote a detailed proposal that was approved by a board of working artists in the SF Bay Area, built a scale model and fabricated the final piece.

The Knot represents a fascination with geometric design and psychological themes. The entanglement of beams is symbolic to the complexities of the human mind, while the material allows the viewer to see themselves reflected in the piece.
